She's a Maniac Flash Dancer...

Hi Divas!

I just wanted to do a quick post...still feeling yucky.   As I stated in my last post, I got the cooties.  Friday I didn't even get dressed.  I pretty much stayed in the bed.  What a way to enjoy my vacay at Grannie's.  Saturday, my last full day in SC, the hubby decided that some fresh air would do me some good so he decided to take me out on a date to Sonic...don't judge us lol  We don't have a Sonic close to home in MD so when we get to Myrtle Beach we plan to go at least once.  So that is what we did...we went to Sonic and walked around Broadway at the Beach which was nearby.   Wasn't out long...just long enough to get a few pics and not get too runned down.

What I wore made be feel like a Flash dancer.  It was nothing special but the addition of the leg warmers over fishnets kicked it up a quarter notch and made me feel like I wanted to dance like a maniac, maniac on the dance floor...dancin like I never danced before.  Oh what a feelin!
(There will be a select few of you who got that *wink*)

Bling Blingin' Baby!

Hey my fellow Divas,
Greetings from Myrtle Beach!
I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and was able to not over indulge like I did.  I so missed the boat yet another Thanksgiving.  I ended up catching the worst ever head cold and have been miserable.  Poooor me.  Today is black Friday and I managed to not over indulge in this area.  Maybe because I just didn't feel well enough to go out.  Gotta find the silver lining somewhere.  For those who went out, I hope you got everything you set out to get and manage to keep your cool when the black Friday attitude reared its ugly head.  You know one that creeps out when someone steals your parking space that you were patiently waiting on.  This is definitely a day you have to pack your patience.
Last night, despite my inablitiy to breathe through my nose and my throbbing ears from pressure build up, I had a good time spending Thanksgiving with my family.  Dinner was good as usual and as I mentioned before, I ate entirely too much!  (my tastebuds were working!)  Well...I just wanted to share my Thanksgiving outfit.  I think I look pretty good for being sick as dog.  These pictures were taken when the Theraflu kicked in...lol.

These genuine leather pants were a whopping $5 from the thrift store.  Actually they were priced at $9.99 but I got them for 50% off on half off day.  She shoots...and SHE SCOOOOORES!

The red python blouse is over 10 years old from NY & Co. This blouse is one of the many reason why my closet is overflowing.  I hate to throw or give away clothes.   You never know when a trend will come back around the corner.  The animal print trend is hot right now and this oldie but goodie looks like I just bought it yesterday.  Now if I had given it away someone else would be looking all trendy and what not...lol.
I was bling blingin' in my Afro Lady rhinestone tee which was purchased from

We Got the V.I.C.T.O.R.Y!

Good Monday My Fashion Friends!  Hope you all had a fabulous and fashionable weekend.

Today's fit feature is this fabulous dress. We have seen it before around the blogosphere but I wanted to show you how I put my personal style spin on it.  But first in my proud mama smile....
*Queue Queen's music*
We are the Champions...no time for losers, We are the Champions!!!

We won! We won!
Congrats to the Prince George's Storm Mitey Mites for a job well done!
These guys (and gal) worked hard, got better and made history!

Metro American Youth Football (AYF) Division 1 Champions
Maryland State AYF Division 1 Champions
Atlantic Region AYF Division 1 Champions

What a great ride this has been!

Now us parents can get our lives back...at least for one minute. :-)

Now, speaking of winning...

This dress is definitely a winner!  Every time I see it on someone no matter the shape or size, it rocks!  Take a look at how a few of my fellow bloggers have fabulously rocked it out:

These ladies kept it simple and it worked!
 Brittany of Pockets and Bows

Shakiyla of I Wanna Be Fierce
chose to add a leather jacket for an edgier look.
A+

You will find that this dress does not need much and some will let the dress speak for itself, which works for me.  This dress positively accentuates every curve in a gal's body.  BOOM BANG POW! When I first got it and modeled it for the hubby, he had this really big "kool-aid" smile on his face and if I'm not mistaken, he started to salivate...lol.  This is a great "dinner-with-the-sweetie" dress but I wanted to wear it work and not be uncomfortable all day.  If you could pull it off, go for it.  I tried to convince myself that I could but failed.  So how do I wear this dress to work and not give to much jelly?  I add a denim duster trench, that's how!  Oh, and some good undergarments will help too. teehee.  I also wanted that leather and lace feel so I chose to add a strand of pearls.  I think I did OK.

I know there are some more of you who have this dress, how do you rock it?  Please share the link of your post of this dress if you have one.
I apologize for not remembering where I got the boots.
I've had them for so long, I had to have them resoled.  They are my faves!

Ditchin' My Football Mom Digs

Greetings my fellow bloggers!

It has been a typical Saturday for me.  What is typical for me as of late is spending all day on the football field and not being able to accept invites to different events because I'm either too tired or like I already said on the football field.   Today my son's team won the first round of the Regional Tourney!!!  This means we will be right back out there tomorrow for the Championship game.  Go STORM!  It is bittersweet because win or lose this will be the last game for us.  This season started on July 11th.  Can we say looooooong time ago.  The coaching staff and parents have decided to opt out of the Nationals.  It requires too much time, energy and money to take 20+ 8-10 year olds to Orlando.  So the train stops here and we will settle with being the League, the State and hopefully the Regional champions!

As for tonight...I am ditchin' my football mom digs for some diva digs...lol. I am going to a friend's birthday get together she is having at her home. This evening should be full of good food, laughs and fun. Here is what I am wearing. (I had these pics snapped when I shoulda been taking a nap...smh)
I usually wear this Dolman sleeve turtleneck with skinny jeans and pumps but after today I am tired and I want to be as comfortable as possible. So my wide leg Levis and wedge booties will have to do.
It is nippy out now in the DC metro area so I will wear my motorcycle jacket that I've had forever!  I paid $50 for this baby in Leather Man.  I still can't believe it...lol

 Me and my four-legged baby...Princess :-)

Paying Homage to the Original Diva

Hey Divas,

It is Thursday and this time next week a lot of us will be in need of some elastic pants.  I got mine ready and I can't wait!  When I first started to compose this post, I had no intentions to go the route I decided to go.  It wasn't until I kept looking at the above pic, I kept feeling my inner Diana.  I just keep wanting to break out and sing...ahem *key Ain't No Mountain High Enough music* Ahhhh ahhh ahhh ahhhh...oooh ooh ooh ohhhhhh.  If you need me, call me. No matter where you are, no matter how far...

The Outfit:  Wrap:Ashley Stewart   Dress & Shoes: Newport News   Body chain: Street Vendor
Random Bangles   Pinlet: Safety pin bracelet designed by D (my mom) specific post coming soon!

OK...I'm done...but ...

If there's a cure for this, I don't want it, don't want it.  If there's a remedy for this, I run from it...

OK...for real I'm done.  But on the real, Love Hangover is one of the best Disco songs ever.  Dance to the extended version and you are sure to drop a pound or two (it will only work if you put it on blast to where the speakers jump...lol) Now I will admit, I have never been the biggest Diana fan but game recognizes game.  One thing I can always say about Diva Diana  is that she has always been on the cutting edge of fashion. I have seen her dubbed a fashion icon.  No matter what you feel about her, that label is rightfully deserved.   And since this is a fashion blog and all, I wanted to share of a couple of  Diana's fiercest looks throughout the years.

So, I was inspired to pay homage to the original diva and with gathering these pics, I got some inspiration for a couple outfits.  Hopefully you all can get a little fashion inspiration from
the Boss, Ms. Ross!

'RANDOMESSNESS'

Hey peeps!  I hope today was a good start to your week.  I usually try to post in the morning but I honestly didn't have much to say and I sat here all evening trying to figure out what I was going to say.  Guess what?  I still don't have anything say.  My weekend was pretty uneventful.  I did hang out with my mom but again nothing post worthy.  So now I will just be random.

Right now, as I type, I am watching The Sing off. Am I the only one who watches?  My faves are Pentatonix and Afro Blue (who I believe will be going home tonight)...but all the top 5 groups are entertaining.

Today was one of the few Monday's that what I wore to church the day before is not what I wore to work.  I couldn't do that because I just wore this outfit on Thursday.  That wouldn't have been cool.  That makes me wonder...am I the only person who likes to have AT LEAST two weeks before repeating an outfit?  Please don't tell me I am the only one. I rather spend my money on shoes and not therapy. *sigh*

OK...so these burnt orange (not red as the pics might display) slacks were thrifted and the one thing I didn't care for was the lack of length.  I decided to take out the hem before I wear them again.  I took them off yesterday and whattaya know...the previous owner must have been a shortie, even shorter than me because I'm vertically challenged.  There was a neat hem in them and all I had to do was take it out.  The originally hem was there.

I originally decided to take advantage of the shortness of the slacks by wearing these booties to showcase the detail on them. I guess I will now have to find a new outfit to showcase them... oh well.

The Fit:
Blazer: Thrifted
Slacks: Thrifted
Booties: Rugged Warehouse
Turtleneck: Don't remember had it for years
Zebra skinny belt: Target
Earrings: DIY

Tales from the Thrift: Desperate Times...Desperate Measures.

Hey y'all!  Today is Friday and I'm so happy I could poop rainbows! Yeah..that happy lol.  Today I want to talk a little about my hate for the inability to spend lots of money for one item, my love for finding a good bargain and my MacGyver tendencies.  This will get a little longer than I usually post but please bear with me.

First...the shoes.  I am proud of you all doing well enough to buy a pair of Jeffery Campbells at will. As for me, I am doing OK in life where I can do that, not at will but with a little financial planning...but I can be too frugal to do so.  OK let me keep it real...I AM CHEAP!  I wanted to have the JC experience but couldn't fork up the money.  So what I did was found a dupe and went for it.  I can honestly say that I'm happy with them.

Now, I will talk about a love affair I had in the thrift store this past summer.  Picture it...local Salvation Army, 2011 on half off day and I did what I hate to do when I go into the thrift store...shopping without a plan.  I was haphazardly going through the clothing racks, filling my cart with "take it or leave its".  I was a little uninspired and about to give up then...WOWSERS!  This fluorescent green beauty said hello.  I picked it up and instantly started to salivate.  It called my name and serenaded me. I fell in love.  The price tag said $9.99 and then I looked on the inside and the label said RALPH LAUREN!!!!  My heart started to beat like FAMU's drumline during the halftime show and then it sank just as quick...

SIZE 2?!?!?

Insert corny fail music here____
Whomp whomp whomp whommmmmmmmmmp...

How in the world am I gonna fit all these hips in a 2?!?  I was thinking a 2 can't do anything for me but make me wanna smack somebody.  But then the wheels in my head started turning...so fast that I'm sure smoke was coming outta my ears.  I ran like Flo Jo (rip) to the dressing room and then my MacGyver tendencies took over. These were desperate times and called for desperate measures. I tried it on and pulled it up as far as I could (not far...it was a 2! @#$%), I ripped the seam and then I safety pinned it.  It worked!!!  I immediately started to shout HALLELUJAH! I was thinking I will clean it up at home.   This skirt did love me as much as I loved it.  I gathered myself, took my ripped skirt, paid my $5, (yes $5.  it was half off day...remember?) and went on my merry way ready to fix and style this bad boy.

*side note* Someone asked would have left it there torn if that didn't work, and to answer that...I would tend to think I would have done the right thing. *halo*

So I fixed it.   I had to lose a couple of inches which caused me to love it even more.  I first wore it to a drag brunch over the summer.  I paired it with a white tank (or as we in the hood call a wife beater) and a black patent leather belt and sandals.  It was a hit.  OK so now I wanted to see how I could transition this skirt into the fall and winter.  I came up with a couple of ideas and here is one of them.  I will post others another time.

Now all I need is somewhere to wear this fit!

Skirt: Ralph Lauren via Salvation Army
Blouse: NY & Co.

I'm Black Coffee...No Sugar, No Cream.

...Black coffee, the African queen
Part of  the Afro-American dream
Enough respect
I'm diggin' intellect
Appreciate the fact that you never miss a step
The backbone of the black bone here's to ya
As long as I'm around believe me no one could ever do ya
You warm, considerate, and far from a softy
And that's why I love ya, you're my black coffee

Black coffee, no sugar, no cream
That's the kind of girl I need down with my team

~Heavy D

Hey my fellow bloggies...see what you all didn't know is, Dwight wrote that song for/about me.  Yep...yours truly was the inspiration for that song!  OK...OK...Heavy didn't know me. So what...boo! I tried to make it sound all official by using his gubment name...lol  He was a great friend in my head though.  Heavy and I (along with Patti LaBelle) share the same birthday so I felt a connection *sigh*.

Today, I am a little mixed up!  As I stated before, doing this blog has me really stepping out of my fashion comfort zone and I love it!  Today's outfit is just a baby step though. Stripes and Polka dots. Silks and Cable knits. I am mixing prints and textures y'all!
Can I get a whoop whoop!?!

*side note*  Ha! While proofing this post..I just noticed my youngest son in the reflection of the window in the first picture.  My 13 year old takes my pictures and my 9 year old tags along and in between shots, the two of them toss the football around, rough house and just be the boys that they are.  It is crazy...but I love it all the same.

Before I go I want to leave you with some funny words from another recently lost great.

Nothin' wrong with an ass whuppin' every now and then. You take away the ass whuppin's and what do you get? You get people wearin' pants below their belly buttons. I'm tellin' you, you go out these days and see the crack of a young lady's butt. It's crazy, man. They should be locked up for indecent exposure. Look here. See? Suspenders! And a belt! I ain't takin' no chances.
