I'm Bossy!

Hey Fashion Friends!

I trust all of you had a great Christmas and now enjoying the 2nd day (Kujichagulia -Self-Determination) of Kwanzaa.  My holiday have been great thus far.  I had a difficult situation to get through right before Christmas which was the worse timing ever but all I can say is...GOD!!!  My God is awesome! You know the mothers of the church always say that He can do anything but fail and then get all excited when they think of His goodness...well the closer I get to my golden years the more and more I have those feelings.  Let the church say "Amand" say "Amand" again!

Today's outfit feature a Christmas present to myself.  Merry Christmas to meeeee!

Naughty Monkey's Bossy!

What I love about this shoe is all the different textures.  The patent leather toe, the leather upper, the leopard, the zipper trim and the studded heel...I mean gosh there is so much going on with this shoe and I just LOVE it!

I styled these shoes with my trendy camel color wool blazer and my thrifted burnt orange slacks.  I first featured these slacks here.  When I wore the slacks then, it was my first time wearing them and I said the next time I wore them I would take the hem out and that is just what I did.  I am happy with the length now.

I can't wait to style these shoes with other outfits.  I am seeing them with my leather skirt and pants, distressed jeans and my motorcycle jacket or even  my black wrap dress.  So many possibilities!

I Rock: Outerwear!

Happy Holidays Fashion Friends!

I'm excited to participate in another link party!  'Tis the season to party, right?  This time I am partying with FASH DET.  The fashion bloggers of Detroit have decided to rock outerwear! YAY!  Glad they invited all of us who are not from Detroit.  I will admit since I've started to blog I have been neglecting to feature my coats and outer jackets.  Shame on me.  So needless to say I was thrilled to participate.  Now on to the coats!  Let's rock!!

This first Coat look is one of my faves...the Pea Coat!  I love any kind of pea coat.  I paired my wool blend winter white pea coat with my fleece cobalt ruffle scarf  made by mom (in which I think I will do my  first give away soon..stay tuned!)  Winter has a sneaky way of making us cover up all our beautiful goodies in our wardrobe so we have to find ways to express our sense of style with our outerwear.  This jacket and scarf helps me express myself without effort.  Can you all hear me expressing myself?!?  lol

Pea Coat: Ashley Stewart (about 3-5 years ago)
Fleece Ruffle Scarf:  Made My Ms. D (my mom)
Scarf comes in several prints and colors.  See the purple here in a previous post.
If interested email me @ msroyalt@gmail.com

This  next coat  is my baaaaby!  I've had this coat for several years now.  It actually started out to be more functional than anything but quickly turned to be a major fashion staple for me in the winter.  OK, y'all...I despise my legs to be cold! Because of this I wasn't wearing skirts or dresses in the winter time much until I found this maxi princess cut dress coat.  About 10 or 11 years ago I went searching for the perfect wool coat.  My only criteria was that it had to be as long as possible to cover up my gams.  So when I started to look it was more for function...the fashion was secondary.  Well...needless to say I was happy when I found this baby!  I have loved it from the day I bought it.  I have changed the buttons on it twice and get excited when I get it out the cleaners for the first time every season.

Also, every time this coats makes its first appearance for the season, my darling hubby says, without fail "Luke, I am you father" he calls it my Darth Vader coat...Please don't judge him. lol

Although it is a dress coat and I wear it to church regularly, I have chosen to actually dress it down at times.  You know... get the feel of the celebrity in the "furs and distressed jeans" look?  Because this coat is very warm...in the dead of winter, jeans, boots and a funky hat and scarf sets it off!  Did I tell you all I love my coat?!?

Maxi Princess Cut Dress Coat: Burlington Coat Factory
Shoes: Go Jane (as seen in previous post)

FASH DET...thanks for inviting me to the lovely party! :-)

A Bus Partying Santa Baby!

*UPDATE* January 6, 2011
I wanted to participate in Bloggers Do It Better Sequin Edition and haven't had a chance to take any pictures wearing more sequin, so I submitted this previous post!  Sparkle Sparkle everyone!

Bloggers Do It Better

Hey there fashion peeps!

I had a pretty decent and eventful weekend.  Alright let me tell you...I have a pretty hip momma and it was her birthday weekend.  How she decided to celebrate her birthday was to get a party bus.  That's right, ma dukes said let's party on a bus.  So this is exactly what we did.  The itineray was to party on the bus and make a few pit stops.  Because we are in the DMV (DC, MD, & VA area) during the winter it is COLD!!!  I mean, the hawk was out Saturday night.  I knew it was going to be cold so I had to come up with a fit that was fashionable, festive yet functional.  Functional being, keeping my buns from freezing off.  You would think being a native NY'er having to walk to school in a foot of snow uphill both ways, I could handle it...NOT!  Here is what I came up with.

I also used this fit to participate in Bloggers Rock the Colors of Christmas link party

&
for the For Style Sake's Santa Baby Contest.
I just took off the denim trousers and put on a skirt and a different pair of shoes.
If you have a minute I would appreciate if you could stop by and vote :-)

What's up with the look on my face...smh

The Fit

Here is the Birthday Diva Ms. D aka Ma D aka D Ma (what my boys call her)...isn't she fabulous?!?

One other pic, I wanted to share...me at the MLK memorial.  This was one of the party bus pit stops.  This is an AWESOME memorial!!  I wish it wasn't so cold so that we could enjoy it more.

A Weekend to Remember!

Greetings Fashion Divas!

First, I want to welcome all my new peeps, and thank you all for your positive and encouraging comments!  You all are the greatest!

OK, so the Holiday season is in full swing!  So much so, I haven't had the time to blog like I want to. Booo!  I wanted to post a couple of pics of me and the husband.  Last weekend we spent time with five other couples from our marriage support group.  The purpose of this group is to encourage each other to maintain happy and healthy marriages.  A real life "Why Did I Get Married?" Group!  In today's society, everyone wants what someone else has.  Single people want to be married and married people want to be single again.  Never satisfied.  So with us being on the married side of the fence, we say let's be happy in the state we're in.  Our motto is "Keeping Marriage Sexy!"  As you all know maintaining any relationship is not always easy, so it is great to have those who we love and trust to lean on.

So this past weekend six couples had a weekend get away...and had a royal blast to the point we almost got kicked out of the hotel.  Can we say OUT OF ORDER?!?! lol.  We kept it together, and came home with headaches from laughing so hard and memories that will last a lifetime!
It was truly a weekend to remember!
These pics are from Friday night's dinner.

I am wearing my remixed thrifted leather pants, thrifted pink satin blouse, rabbit fur trimmed shrug from K&G, finished off with a little leopard.  Mr. Mac is wearing, a black "What is That?" velvet jacket, a grey sweater vest, pink dress shirt that he says real men can rock comfortably, black jeans, black and silver paisley tie, black casual lace up shoes.

Thank you all for reading!

Double the Pleasure....

Hey Fashionistas !

I hope you are all well. I won't waste any time babbling with small talk, I have some business to take care of.  Today's post will feature TWO casual outfits!  Double the pleasure, double the fun!  That's right, It's a two for one!  I know we all love those, now don't we?

*warning* picture heavy

Fit #1
HOUNDSTOOTH

As you know Houndstooth have been trending with the celebs and in the fashion world. I'm loving that because I love houndstooth and it has always been a staple in my arsenal.  I love it in and "out" of style.  This jacket was purchased about 3 or 4 years ago from Burlington for $12.99!  And that wasn't a sale price.  I was walking through the store and they just got them in as they were still on the rolling rack.  Because of it being houndstooth, I stopped dead in my tracks. My jaw hit the floor when I saw the price.  I was so surprised I had to look at all the other tags because I just knew it was a mistake, lol.  No mistake.  Needless to say, I walked right to the register without a second thought.  It isn't a flimsy jacket either.  It has a lining and some weight to it.  Few years later and several trips to the cleaners, I still rock it like I bought it yesterday.  I have gotten more than my money's worth from it!

Fit #1
Houndstooth Jacket: Burlington
Jeans: Gloria Vanderbilt via Burlington
Lace Blouse: Target (I also have it in off white seen here)
Booties: Rugged Warehouse
Belt: Burlington
Ruffle Scarf: Made by D (my momma)

Fit #2
COLOR BLOCKING w/ Sequin

Sequins + Sparkles | Everybody, Everywear

As the Houndstooth, color blocking is nothing new but I still love doing it as if it was just introduced yesterday.  In this outfit, I used two of my favorite colors to color block.  And yes...I have on a blazer...AGAIN!  You've seen this one before here, where I used the same two colors...OK so sue me!  I just love this color combo.  I wore this last Friday to a get together with some friends to celebrate a birthday.

Fit #2
Blazer - Thrifted
Sequin top - Thrifted
Jeggings: Ashley Stewart via thrift store
Booties: Go Jane
Zebra belt: Target

I Feel Sassy, oh so Sassy!

Happy Monday!  Did you all chip away at that shopping list? Not I.
I so rudely found out this weekend my 13 year old son wants some darn $300 "Beats" headphones for Christmas...IS HE CRAZY?!? Homey can't even keep his room clean and he wants me to drop THREE bills?  I wish I would!  *side eye*

OK, so I have been rocking blazers hard lately.  I set out at the beginning of the season to the thrift stores looking specifically for blazers.  I found several of them and I haven't been able to take them off.  You can do so much with them and they always give an extra added flair to any ensemble.  Also, with me being a curvy chick, they cover a multitude of sin...lol.  Nothing like camouflaging an unsightly bulge with a chic blazer.  Hey, it is what it is.  I celebrate every last one of my curves but I know how to accentuate the positives by letting the focus be on something other than my fluff.  Why not be functional while being fabulous? So again, the blazer does it for me!

In this outfit, I decided to rock out a stark white blazer with all black.  To me, there is nothing like a classic black and white ensemble.  Now, I love color just as much as the next diva but black and white gets me errytime. :-)  I paired the white blazer with a simple fitted turtleneck and my genuine leather skirt (thrifted) and pumped it up with the zebra pumps.
I feel sassy, oh so sassy!  I feel sassy and classy in whiiite!

The Sassy Ensemble:
Blazer: K&G
Turtleneck: Burlington
Genuine Leather Skirt: Thrifted ($9.99)
Zebra Pumps: K&G
Belt: Burlington
Chain & Ring: Streets of NYC
Watch: Fossil
