Basic Black!

Happy Friday Fashion Friends!

Today is a simple post and a simple outfit.  I am sporting a basic black outfit punched up just a little with my new favorite scarf and my old zebra print pumps.

I got excited when I found this scarf.  It is a simple way of jazzing up a very basic outfit.  On the days when I am not in the mood to put too much thought into what to wear, I tend to go very basic.  Naturally, right?  When I am feeling like that I go for my "punch pieces" to keep me from falling of the drab cliff.  This is definitely one of my punch pieces and I have been putting some major use to it.

Today is the start of my Spring Break (I work for a University).  I plan to keep it very simple for a week.  I plan on reorganizing so that I can maximize my wardrobe.  How many of you keep wearing the same things not because you don't have anything to wear but because you don't know what the heck you have in your closet... *raising hand*  Guily as sin, here.

Does this mean that I will not wear my scarf as much?
Absolutely not...it means that I will find more things to wear with it.

Blouse & Slacks: Thrifted    Scarf & Clutch: Charming Charlie
Pumps: K&G also worn here.  Cuff:  The streets of NYC

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend.
Thanks for stopping by.
Stay tuned and stay fly!

Layers: Dots, Stripes & Leopard

Hey heyyyyy!!!

Do you know how hard it is to stay motivated to go outside and take pictures when it is nippy?  Well...let us just say VERY hard.   For all of my fellow bloggers who live in the cold regions, I am sure you can certainly relate.   I have been wanting to get out there and take some but when I think about the cold, I say "ummmmm, nevermind" hence the almost month gap since my last post.

Yesterday was absolutely beautiful in the DMV so I got out there and posed a lil bit.

I am so ready for the weather to officially break for spring but one thing I will miss (as I do every year) is winter clothes.  I love layering.  The layered look is my signature go to look.  Every now and then I have to do something little sexy to make my husband swoon but most of the time, this is me.

Spring is definitely one of my favorite time of year.  Nothing like getting in your car on the first great spring Saturday of the season, rolling the windows down with the music on and just going for it.  That is everything!

Speaking of music, certain songs just speak of dropping the imaginary (at least for me) top on the car and grooving down the road.  Anthony Hamilton's "Best of Me" is just perfect for that.
It is amazing...amazing!

Are you ready for Spring?  You already know...

Style Me Friday: Sequin For Daytime

Happy Friday and belated Valentine's Day!
Did you and your boos have a great day?

Another Friday and I am participating with Eboni in Style Me Friday
This one was a bit of a challenge for me because the look to recreate was Sequin for daytime.

Below was the look to inspire us for the week.

Most of the time when we think of sequins, we think of a glitzy night out on the town.
Well, with fashion rules made to be broken, we see sequins being worn more out of the box than ever before.  This week is all about dressing down sequin to wear during the day.

I didn't have much sequins in my closet.  I MUST fix that.  All I had was a sequin tank top and another top that had very little sequin on it.  I chose to go with the sequin tank top.

Yep...you guessed it, I am wearing a tank top as a skirt.  My husband asked was it going to fall down...and I answered with putting my hands on my hips. Nothing is getting pass these hips. HA!   I just put on the long tee to cover up the unmentionables...lol.  I loved the eclectic outcome of this ensemble but after taking the pics, I realized I should have toned down the accessories to make it more of a day time look. I guess it can work.

Jacket: Ashley Stewart  Hi Lo Tee: Target
Tank worn as a skirt: Dots  Booties: Go Jane

Please check out Eboni and all her fabulosity and the rest of the divas!

Thank you for stopping by.

A Casual Friday Look feat. Tangerine

Greetings Fashion Friends!

Guess what y'all?!?! I was am soooo excited because I was able to go thrifting yesterday. Please share in my excitement to humor me...thanks!  It wasn't my idea but I couldn't say no.  As I mentioned before, we are trying to reel our spending in and I have not been in forrrrrreverrrr!  Oh how I missed it.  I walked in the store and I almost wanted to start sing "You make me feel like, I've been locked out of heaven for too lonnnng" which would have made me start dancing like no one was watching.

Gettin' it IN!!!!

*Side bar*  Some time ago I talked about certain songs that you have to play on "eardrum bust" level.  That aforementioned song by Bruno Mars is definitely one of them.  It is seriously therapeutic!

OK...moving on.  Again with shopping my closet both the tops are remixed.  You've seen them before.

Simple casual outfit great for Casual Friday or a bite to eat with the gals.

I'm going to Master the Possibilities and going to open up an online store...coming soon!

Houndstooth & Python

Hey y'all!

I hope you all had a great holiday weekend.  I don't know about you but I got a little emotional all over again watching some of the Inauguration festivities just as I did four years ago.  I don't know what is more of an honor to Dr. King's dream than to have this Nation's first Black President to be inaugurated for the 2nd term on they day we honor his legacy.  Wow.

I have been forced to shop my closet more often lately and probably will be doing it more during the next few months.  My husband and I have been doing the most financially the past three months and now the boys' extra curricular activities is really attacking our pockets.  I don't complain because this is what I signed up for.  I just really hope the boys will eventually understand how much we sacrifice for them.  I digress. So we are dialing it back a lil.

Having said all this...in this outfit you have seen both tops before.  The houndstooth top is one of my "go to's" and to add a pop of color I decided to layer my red python blouse under it.
