Mixed Prints feat. Printed Denim

Happy Spring!

She sure took her time getting here.  As I stated in my last post...I was seriously not motivated to go out in the cold to snap some pictures.  I know I do it during the Winter but my body has already come out of winter mode.  I was refusing to go out and shiver for a few minutes.  Call me a bad blogger if you wanna but I just couldn't do it. So, Hello Spring!  Even though I don't think you will stick around long...Summer is coming to visit today.

So I made it no secret that I started this blog because I needed some "umph" to my style.  I figured it would help me step out and grow to try some different things.  I am so pleased with my growth.  But all in all, I am soooo grateful for my fellow bloggers who challenge me to step out of my fashion comfort zone.  Fist bump to you all!

I would have NEVER worn anything close to this  a couple years ago.  Not only would I wear it now but I am comfy doing it.  I mean really...MIXED PRINTS?!?  Yep...this type of outfit has taken residence in my comfort zone.  I know it is not for everyone but I tell you what...It is soooo fun to wear!

Now let's talk about the printed denim...on these thighs?!?  And you know it!  lol.   Some time ago, never would I put anything on my legs to bring attention to the fact that they are not modelesque.  But the fact that I am OK with print on my legs now opens up a whole new world.

So when I walked into to Target these jeans jumped out at me and I said to myself "what the heck...let's do this!"  *Side note*  When I go to Target, I have to force myself not to go anywhere near the women's clothes.  I will always find something...umm...more like several things.  OK...back to the jeans.  I love the edgy print and if you need to do something different these will definitely get the job done.

My espadrille wedges get replaced in my shoe collection every couple of years because in or out of style,  I wear the heck out of them.  After wearing boots all winter the are a great transition shoe and great when you need your toes done. *wink*

I will say that if you do decided to step out of your comfort zone in your fashion choices, you have to do it with confidence. If you are uncomfortable it will show and it will not work.  Ever notice a young lady tugging at her short skirt constantly?  Get my drift?  Has blogging helped your style to evolve?

Houndstooth & Python

Hey y'all!

I hope you all had a great holiday weekend.  I don't know about you but I got a little emotional all over again watching some of the Inauguration festivities just as I did four years ago.  I don't know what is more of an honor to Dr. King's dream than to have this Nation's first Black President to be inaugurated for the 2nd term on they day we honor his legacy.  Wow.

I have been forced to shop my closet more often lately and probably will be doing it more during the next few months.  My husband and I have been doing the most financially the past three months and now the boys' extra curricular activities is really attacking our pockets.  I don't complain because this is what I signed up for.  I just really hope the boys will eventually understand how much we sacrifice for them.  I digress. So we are dialing it back a lil.

Having said all this...in this outfit you have seen both tops before.  The houndstooth top is one of my "go to's" and to add a pop of color I decided to layer my red python blouse under it.

Not So Mellow Yellow!

Hey Fly Ones!
How y'all?!?

OK, so this past Sunday my choir had to sing and the attire was any combination of yellow, grey and white.  This means that we could have worn yellow bottoms and grey top, all grey with pops of yellow, All white with grey accents, etc. etc.  Well me being the crazy lady that I am I wanted to do all yellow!  I know that this may not have been most people's choice because it may have been a little too bright for most fashionista's taste but I wanted to do it! Fashion is subjective and  mostly about doing you, right?  And that I did!  I accented with a little white and silver accessories.

My husband started calling me Chiquita because he claims I looked like a darn banana...WHATEVA!  A banana wishes it was this bright...heh! I felt good so I guess that all that matters.  I felt like a ray of sunshine here to brighten lives...lol.

I know I mentioned it before but whatever I wear to church on Sunday, I wear to work on Monday (well Tuesday in this week's case)  I do this because I only have on my outfit for a couple of hours not long enough for it to get wrinkled.   But because I wore these pants to work last week, I decided to wear the grey skirt I was rebelling against on Sunday.  So this is what I wore to work today.

Yellow top and pants and white top: Thrifted  Grey Skirt: Burlington Shoes: Guess

Floral & Stripes

Happy Friday Fashion Friends!

Just a quick post today.  I have a few things going on this weekend so hopefully I will be good blogger and wear things worth posting later on.  Today I was supposed to do a print mixing lesson but I did not prepare my lesson. I wanted to use examples from some of my favorite bloggers but I didn't take the time to find the pictures needed.  I will do it soon.  Until then here is an outfit that I rocked to work earlier this week that incorporates the floral and stripes trend.

Have you guys noticed how I am putting good use to my striped tank?
I am gonna get another one because I love it and it is definitely a staple in my wardrobe.

Linen Jacket: Walmart (had it FOREVER)    Floral A line skirt:  Thrifted    Striped tank: H&M
Shoes: Michael Antonio 'Taini' via Hautelook   Watch: Tony's Fossil   Random accessories

You can tell when I do after work photo shoots...I don't have but a few pics because I am too tired to be out there too long. lol.

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Khaki & Denim Pt. Deux

Heyyyyy y'all...I'm baaaaack!!!
Just back from cruise #1 of 2 for the year.
I am refreshed and revived and missed blogging.

Because I didn't want to rack up a large bill due to international roaming
I shut my phone off and LOVED it!  I did not get online for a week and it wasn't too bad.

I have just a few pics from my trip to share with you all and I will do that later this week.  As for today's featured outfit, I wore this Saturday to my girlfriend's annual "La Petite Soiree".  This an intimate event where the gals get together and we have really good finger foods and even better cocktails.   It makes for good laughs and good times when you get some tipsy cacklin' ladies together.

So, its...Khaki & Denim part deux.  In my previous post I had another version of khaki and denim.  Please check it out if you haven't already.

I am not a big fan of the harem style pants because I don't think they flatter me but I wear them anyway.
Do you all have those things you like but do not like you and you don't care?
I have several foods in that category too...lol.

Stripes, More Stripes and...yeah, Leopard.

Hey everyone!!!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend.  Here's looking to a great week!

*warning* pic heavy

Today's featured outfit...
Breton Stripes, Pinstripes, and a lil animal!

Before I get into that, a few things have gone on since my last post.  I have so much to talk about but I will try not to get long winded!

First...I crossed that 100 follower mark!
    Yayyyy!

I appreciate the first to the hundredth all the same.  I do this blogging thing for so many reasons but the biggest has got to be because it is fun and you meet so many great positive people.  You ALL stopping by every now and then makes this even more "funner"...lol.  I know that isn't grammatically correct, so no need to correct. :)
I want to THANK YOU for making this blogging experience all that!
Hugs and Blog Love!

Next,   I don't know if you know but....

THE NEW YORK GIANTS ARE GOING TO THE SUPERBOWL!!!

I will spare you all and keep my excitement toned down for now.

Ok..now back to the outfit. I wore this outfit on Friday to my boys' football awards banquet.  As always, for any event this organization does, all participants are to come dressed in STORM gear. The team colors happen to be my fave color combo; red, black and white.  Because this was the awards banquet, we had to leave the jerseys and t-shirts at home and take it up a notch.  It is always fun to see the young people get snazzy.
Wide leg Trousers: Ashley Stewart  Jacket: Thrifted  Tank: H&M  Shoes: K&G  Belt: Target  Clutch: Leather Man
Necklace: Street Vendor  Watch: Ashley Stewart

The fam!
The boys came home with a couple of awards!  As some of you know, the baby had a great year!  3Championship titles!!! My oldest came home with the Sportsmanship award!  He was nicknamed Slash by his head coach just like Kordell Stewart (former Steeler) for the same reasons.  He played everything...  quarterback slash running back slash wide receiver slash whatever you needed him to play.
Good job fellas!

Thanks again for stopping by!
