I'm Gonna Be Me in My Chucks!

What It Do?!?

OK...roll with me because this will definitely be a random...well sorta.  One of the lessons I had to learn early in life was that my life is exponentially better when I work at doing what pleases me (and God) and not others.  When I do this a large percent of the time I am really really happy.  Hence the inception of this blog.  I truly enjoy doing it and for the most part it is simple.

See the thing is I don't walk around tying to be what I'm not. I don't waste my time trying to get what you got. I work at pleasing me 'cuz I can't please you and that's why I do what I do. My soul flies free like a willow tree do wee do wee do weeeeeee...
Incense is burning so I'm feelin right...aight
LOL!

Erykah Badu's Appletree came to mind when I battled back and forth to post this look because I thought it was nothing special. I wore it over the weekend spending a real casual time with some friends. Then I had to smack myself and apologize for my quick slip of judgement. I know my blog and the outfits I wear will not appeal to everyone and I am truly cool with that.

Now having said this,  I want to encourage anyone reading this to just be you and not worry about pleasing everybody with every decision you make.  Whether it be during blogging or anything else.
Just continue to do you!  If your intentions are pure, it will work out.

If you are not careful you can easily slip in that hole.
I will continue to remind myself as much as needed.
Vest & Levi shorts: Thrifted  Sneakers: Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars
2 Neon Belts: Forman Mills  2 cut bandanas for pocket squares   random accessories

So...let me be clear.  I appreciate EVERY reader, EVERY comment and EVERY time each of you click my link.  And this is because I truly you believe you don't have to pick from my apple tree and be down. *wink*

Thanks for stopping by.

  12. I really do enjoy seeing you in all your outfits. I'd happily copy most of them if budget allowed and yet I don't let it phase me if there is 1 or 2 that I wouldn't wear you still carry them off in your own unique style with panache.

    Keep doing what YOU do!

  13. Yes ma’am… you betta say that Tavia! So often as bloggers and as human beings we get caught up in becoming people pleasers and are NEVER happy with ourselves!!!! All I can do is be the best me I can be!

BTW, you ROCK the HECK outta them chucks shawty! (In my ATL southern voice)

  21. WARNING! Don't become hooked on them. I've discovered that they go with ALMOST everything. My parking lot is not near my building so I don my chucks or flip flops for the "journey". I never remove the chucks and I don't give a darn what people think about them. I am probably the only Jamaican in the entire world who owns a pair and you know what I am ok with that. (-:

  23. tavia this is AWESOME. you ARE supa fly :) but for real you are rocking, girl. and i love how you keep it real. i, too, am a God-fearing woman who just wants to please her Savior and take care of others - if we spend too much time trying to do what other people do, we're just gonna end up disappointed. you rock, tavia!

  25. I love this post, Tavia! Your look is so on point with what you are saying. Sometimes in blogging I go back and forth with what I should post and if anyone would even like it if I posted it. But your words were like confirmation for me. I need to care less about pleasing others and more about being true to myself. Taking part in the BFSC really helped me to break out of my shell and do just that. I love your blog and always feel inspired in some way when I come by here.

Thanks for keeping it real with us =) And you are totally rocking this look, BTW!
