BFSC: Short Shorts & Bright Blazer

Greeting guys and gals!

I think I'm gonna make this quick.  This is next installment for
I will say this is one of those that make this challenge a true challenge.

Who wear SHORT SHORTS?!?

Of course they are not Daisy Dukes because that isn't gonna happen over here.

Short shorts marked off the list *whew*

My husband never could understand why I didn't wear them and I would say my legs are too big.  So to put these on was wayyyyyy out of my comfort zone but I'm glad I decided to do this challenge. I was actually cool with it.  Needless to say, so was the Mr. lol

Here I am killin birds again with the one stone again.

I am also linking up with Marion over at Marionberry Style!
for the Trend of the Month link up.  This month it is Colorful Blazers. I happend to luck up this season with some really nice bright blazers at the thrift store and this is one of them.

Oxymorons & BFSC!

Hi y'all!
Happy Monday and all that good stuff there!

What is an oxymoron?  Merriam-Webster's definition is...

A combination of contradictory or incongruous words (as cruel kindness); broadly : something (as a concept) that is made up of contradictory or incongruous elements

Here are some common oxymorons:
 Government Organization
Act Naturally
Exact Estimate
Diet Ice Cream
Jumbo Shrimp

And some fashion related oxymorons:
Casual Chic
One Size Fits All
Natural Make-up
Long Sleeve T-shirt
Tight Slacks

Me wearing this tropical dress in NYC a.k.a. the concrete jungle!  A serious 'oxymoronic' concept!

This dress has the Caribbean or some other tropical paradise written all over it, so it was fun to throw it on far from the Caribbean to be comfortable while shopping.
I was born and raised in the Bronx and I don't get back as often as I used to but when I do, I immediately catch the NY vibe.  You know...the moving and shaking vibe.  No matter what you got going on, you have to get where you need to be in a hurry.  Nothing relaxed about the city.  Another reason having this relaxed maxi on is an oxymoron.

This dress is also striking strapless off the list for Jasifer's Big Fat Summer Challenge
I love to people watch and I took a breather and sat in Greeley Square and had a good time.
New Yorkers are a very unique breed of people.  The best entertainment ever!
Well...almost better than a Broadway
There are a few things that definitely speak "New Yorkan" to me and I captured a few of them.
A hot dog stand, the yellow cab and Mr. Softee.  I didn't get a chance to get a sloppy slice of New York Pizza (darnit!) and I forgot to get a pic of my coconut icee I had from a street vendor. I didn't catch any street performers either.  Oh well...there will definitely be a next time.

Dress: Dots (Want it? Click to check availability at a store near you)
Sandals: BCBGirls via Off Broadway Purse: Charming Charlie

Shout out to Ma Dukes for snapping my pics for me even though she gave me a hard time!

BFSC: Silk Flowers

Happy Friday!

The HEAT won last night!  YES!!!
I root for all teams New York but I wanted LeBron to get that monkey off his back.  I'm happy for him, D Wade and the rest of them...even Juwon Howard.

Congrats to the Miami Heat and all the Miami Fans!
I wish I was in South Beach to party with you all!

This is gonna be a great weekend.  I am on tap for some retail therapy in my home city...
the great NYC!  Yayyyy!!!  I am hoping to get some pics in...we will see.  I am a bad blogger when it comes to that.  I will try my best.

Today's installment for Jasifer's Big Fat Summer Challenge is to mark something I wouldn't normally wear off the list.  The funny thing about this challenge is that a few thing that I wouldn't normally wear was already on the list.  So I had to find something else.  The good thing is that with my style evolution since the inception of this blog, that list is getting smaller.  Woohoo!

Printed or floral pants/jeans is something I normally wouldn't wear.

And another one down!

I didn't wear printed pants before because I thought my thighs were to 'voLUMPtous' to bring any attention to them.  Well, I am over it and I better be because short shorts are up next I

I recently thifted these silk floral pants for $5 I almost let them go but I said to myself "Why not?"
because the floral print is trending big time.  Then I thought it went perfectly with this top I thrifted some time ago.  I am pretty sure it was less than $5 (I have a hard time spending more than $5 on a  I was going for the jumpsuit look.  A few folks at work thought it was and I was like...YES!!! LOL

I paired the silk flowers with an also thrifted tangerine silk button-up shirt for some color.
This shirt can also be see here.

Woop woop! I can't say it enough how grateful I am for starting this blog and gaining some great inspiration from my fellow bloggers.  It has really given me the umph I needed in my personal style!

All clothing items thirfted!
Shoes: Michael Antonio
Belt: Target

BDIB:Mint & Coral / BFSC: High Waisted Bottom

Hey peeps!

Killing two birds with one stone is a regular around these parts.  Actually, I have no choice because I want to play with my fellow bloggers but I have other responsibilities too.  Today's outfit is just that.  To participate this go around with the Bloggers Do It Better series, I had to wear mint and coral. Both colors are hot this season and I have a couple of pieces in each color but nothing that was working well enough together for me.  So off to the thrift store I went.

Click the above button to see more bloggers work
the mint and coral for more fashion ideas.

I found this mint tunic for $2 and this coral skirt for $3 in less than 10 minutes of being in the store.  The thrifting gods were with me!   I went in there solely for this purpose so I left without doing too much damage this time.  Kudos Mrs. T Mac for showing some major restraint!  Watchouttherenow!
Yes...I went shopping just for that.  It works for

When I got it home and tried it on the skirt was a lil long for my taste.  I rolled it up (not too much because the tunic is pretty long) and added the belt to wear it as a high waisted bottom which will satisfy another on my my BFSC list!  If you haven't already, please check out Jasifer's challenge.
Thanks Ticka for shouting it out and getting me in trouble but a fun challenge.

Two birds with one stone...
This girl is a freakin' genius!
(as my husband would say but usually when I do something not so smart)

I had all intentions to throw some animal print pieces with this but I wanted to keep it girlie girl and accessorize with the silver.  I didn't want to be over the top girlie so I stayed away from the pearls. When I remix this outfit another time I will do the animal print.

I was hoping to wear pants for my mint and coral outfit because I posted a few skirts/dresses the last few posts and I wanted to balance things out.  It didn't work out that way but I am pleased with my thrifted finds.  Happy camper here!

So for to all my readers, I've said this before and I will say it again...THRIFT SHOP THE TREND!

The outfit:
Top & Skirt: Thrifted total: $5
Purse: Thrifted
Necklace: The Streets of NYC
Belt: Burlington
Random bangles
Sandals: Old as dirt and don't remember where I got them
I will say Burlington but not sure. (sue me)

The Maxi for the BFSC!

Greetings fashion friends,

I hope you all had a great Father's Day!
I surely did,  I got to spend some time with my father in law and as always it was a pleasure.
I am blessed to have the greatest in-laws.

So yesterday, I wore this maxi dress.  Nothing special but it was easy & comfortable.  This dress is a few years old...approximately 5 years.  I know it is probably about that because I have to pin it up in the back because I've lost a few pounds from when I purchased it.  This is why I have on the denim cropped jacket and because it is a halter.  As I stated earlier, I went over to the in-laws.
They love me dearly (as I do them) and I want to keep it that  You know what I mean.
I don't want Momma Mac giving me the side eye because she thinks I am half dressed.
Dress & Jacket: Ashley Stewart  Purse: Thrifted

If you follow me on Instagram and Twitter then you know my boys are gone for 5 weeks spending time with their dad and nana.  The issue with that is my oldest is my photographer.  This means I have to burn up several of my brownie points I have saved in my "Baby Please" account to keep the posts coming. These 5 weeks will be long ones as a married blogger.

Shout out to Mr. Mac for holding it down with the camera yesterday.

I have three small confessions to make.

Confession #1  I also wore this dress today because I had a slight headache and I wasn't up to putting too much thought into what to wear.

Confession #2 I also figured  it would satisfy the maxi on my Big Fat Summer Challenge list.  Ever since deciding to participate, I have been thinking about this list when choosing an outfit.

Maxi dress...DONE!
So far this has been easy...but umm short shorts and bikini?!? Woosahhh!

Beacause I am vertically challenged, this dress and all maxis sweep the ground/floor when I wear them.  I don't mind it, especially today because my feet stay covered.  Which is confession #3.  I am in DESPERATE need of a pedicure! It is a sin and a shame!  These corns is fixin' to pop!

lol...y'all remember this episode of Martin?
Somebody gotta go to work on my feet!!!

Seriously, I will handle it very soon (before I lose more valued brownie
but until then...maxis and closed toe shoes are on tap.

You know what I say...judge me if you like. :)
